    sorry to hear about the trials and tribulations of Texan weather guys.. hopefully more favourable weather comes soon.

    k.c. try watering the cymbids at night to cool them down in summer...

    yeah i have started doing that and i cut out the patio light at night. also i thought it was bad to water at night or is that other types?

    cold and wet is bad mmm'kay... so summer really is the only time that you can water plants at night... similarly, wet and warm stale air is bad as that causes rot... so if ur watering during a time period where it is gonna get warm, make sure that there's some air movement.

    also, for many of the cymbid hybrids, the cooling down period is a must to get them to bloom.... there are newer hybrids esp using the miniature, warmer growing species that is changing that requirement.

    Drugs are bad mmm'k... haha that was funny. so yeah i think i really understand the whole orchid culture from reading up on every lil thing there is to know about orchids haha. i think im just a lil impatient but i want to get my cymbidium and dendrobium to bloom before i move on with any other orchids. plus i have a lil bitty 2 bedroom apt with a roomate. and i have 25 other plants besides my orchids haha i even have them on the neighboors balcony and below me haha vines growong all over the place it great

    It's nice to see you interested in plants. So few younger people these days...you know...

    A few friends of mine have great luck in dumping a few ice cubes in their cymbids at night this time of year through the Fall (until nights get cool).

    You might want to consider that.

    Ice Cubes?? Um, i'm thinking that's a bad idea. Ice isn't good for orchids....
