All plants (to my knowledge) need magnesium for good growth, so if your fertilizer doesn't provide it, use 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of Epsom per gallon of water. That ratio shouldn't be strong enough for a toxicity buildup, and will provide more than enough for the plants that require greater amounts.

Also, what I've read says to give them the epsom treatment like 4 times a year - i.e., not very often. I use it on my house plants from time to time as well, especially citrus. It greens them up if they're starting to look a bit pale.

At what concentration of magnesium sulfate is this? I have access to mag. sulfate at 9.5% and wonder what regular epsom salts is so I can adjust accordingly.

I will have to go to the GH and look at what the package says because I don't know off the top of my head. I can check tomorrow. Remind me with a PM if I don't remember.

    Cheers,

Somewhere around here a ways back, Gin posted that she uses maybe 1 tsp per gallon, each month.

    Is that right, Gin?
