Default Potting some of my orchids

    Hi,

I recently bought some orchids and was wondering on how to go about potting them:

    Arachnis Flos Aeris
    BLC Varut Startrack
Aerides Odorata (I was planning to put this in a hanging basket with some charcoal in it)
    Arundina Graminifolia
    Peristeria elata

    Thanks
    satish

I have my Arachnis Flos Aeris in a pot with a bamboo stake so that it can have something
to climb on to. The medium I used is just gravel, just so that the stake can stand upright.
As for the Aerides, i have it in a vanda hanger with no media. Im sure someone with
better experience will be able to give you more info.

The Blc Varut Startrack I would pot in a large bark and charcoal mix. You will want it to retain a little moisture, but not for long. It should dry out between waterings.

Welcome to the forum, Satish. Where in India are you from?

    Cheers,
    BD

    Hi Bruce & Delphiguy,

Thanks for the advise. I'll try accordingly.

Bruce, I'm from Bangalore in India and been addicted to orchids since the last 8-9 months or so. I've 2 vandas in spike, which I hope to share the pictures with the group soon once they are blooming. Am pretty envious with all the beautiful vandas that people are growing in this group and hope to replicate some of them!

Welcome, Satish!!! Glad to have you join us!!! Looking at your list you have some beautiful orchids!!! Can't wait to see your vandas! I have peristeria elata and it's potted in bark mix. I got it in little 2" pot ready to go in 4". The grower told me they do best in bark, keep it moist. I water mine every morning.
