Default Sap on Phal

I just discovered some sap/sticky droplets on the underside of my phal's leaves. I don't see any pests on the plant...can anyone explain why the sap has occurred?

Nancy, that's honeydew. A lot of orchids exude it, particularly the fleshy-leaved ones: phals, catts. If you taste it, it'll be sweet, and if you leave it on, it'll turn black as mold eats the sugar. It's not harmful in any way, but it occasionally attracts those little ants.

Thanks Louis. What's the best way to remove it? I rather it not get to the point where mold is feasting on it!

I use plain water and a tissue to wipe it off
