    Default Miraculous save !

Last year in the month of September, my Mom got a rather dead looking Phal, just because it had some very beautiful blooms. This the picture of the phal in September

I told her to just discard it, as it looked dead, its new leaf and growth tip was dead, the only leaf was yellow. But my mother decided against my opinion because the plant had healthy roots.

This picture is from the month of May 2009, the plant is still dead looking, but it has managed to hold on, its roots still alive, and if you ca see a new leaf in the forming.

And finally this picture is from yesterday. The plant seems to have recovered, lost its yellow leaf, two new leaves (One chewed by a snail, god I hate those!) and guess what an inflorescence!

All credits to my mothers perseverance and better judgement.

That is a great story. Orchid teach us so much about being patient and having faith that if it is supposed to work/grow/live - it will. I look forward to the blooms

    Cheers,

Wow! thats pretty inspiring!!! I cut off some healthy looking roots when re-potting my liodora as the top of the roots seemed to be dead (where it is connected to the plant). Surprirsingly after abt 2 weeks, I saw the dumped root in the mud still seemed pretty healthy. This made me ponder if a plant can be re-surrected from only roots.

Hehe, my mom cannot help much with the snails, she loathes them and is frightened to touch them hehe. She just helps the plant recuperate. Now after trying all organic things like beer, diatomite, lettuce and cucumber we have taken out the heavy weapon of mass destruction against the snails. Ferric phosphate pellets all over the green house.
In a week my gardener collected a mug bull of dead snails !! I hope they do not get resistant to it.
