    Default Buying a Cymbidium

    Hi, I would really like to get a cymbidium orchid plant. PM a good place to buy one and Post what is a good variety for a first timer? Thanks, Bill

    Hmmmmm....if you're looking for a big one maybe a Cymbidium Sue, which blooms green with a red lip; or if you're looking for something you won't need to eventually pot in a bathtub (hah!) you could try the much smaller Cymbidium Cherry Blossom. Another I think is neat that is on my list is the Cymbidium Summer Pearl. All are hybrids, but boy can they be pretty.

    The easiest one to grow are any crosses with chinese cymbidium, Easter Bunny, Peter Pen, Golden Elf, Maureen Carter, etc. You can grow them indoor without any cool spell for spike initiation and if you have the space (greenhouse/sunroom), you can move to standard cymbidium.
