    Default A few new chids for Id.

    Just got this from the local sunday market. Anyways got a bunch of new chids
    i was like a kid picking up a new toy... hehe. Was able to check on the show
    as well... didn't get much from the show tho.... Anyways i hope somebody can
    help me ID them... thanks in advanced.

    1. Dendrobium....
    2-3. No idea... maybe an Eria??
    4. Dendrobium amethystoglossum???

    I think you are correct on the Staurochilus, but maybe Jim or Decoy or someone will come along and correctly identify them for you. Nice selections!

    here is my guesses,
    1.dendro cerinum
    2. certainly eria looking, but that bloom?????
    3. dendro amethystoglossum
    4. stauro ionosma

    Hi ron, that bloom in the eria is unique.... i would have guessed it to be a
    bromeliad have i not seen the plant myself. thanks for the Id's...

    Hi Guys,

    The first picture is of Dendrobium ionopus.
    The second picture is of Dendrolirium ornatum, syn. Eria ornatum. This identification is with some reservation as the floral bracts of Dendrolirium ornatum are usually bright orange to red. Maybe the inflorescence of the illustrated plant is still young and will develop the mentioned colourations as it matures. What you see in your picture is floral bracts and the flowers will pop out from the base of the bracts.
    The third picture is Dendrobium amethystoglossum.
    The fourth pictures are of Staurochilus ionosma.
