    Default Orchid Growth Comments/Recommendations

Here is a photo of a Paph. Macabre seedling cross. These were deflasked a few months ago and 10 of the seedlings are growing like this. It looks as if the plant has a REAL growth appearing above the initial "stem". It looks as if a root wants to grow where the arrow is pointing.

What do you think? Should I leave it as is? Should I repot with the large growth just under the media so that roots can form?

I have seen that before. Personally, I would spray with a fungicide and plant it lower for new roots to develop

OK, I just got a return email from my favorite commercial paph grower. Apparently this isn't uncommon. Here is his advice...

"Pull that lowest leaf off and then replant the whole plant again in the mix. Get the new base of the lowest leaves just below the mix level."

    So there we go!
