Default Help - Phal bloom has wilted

I have had my orchid for a while and it seemed okay, but this morning and I woke up and one of the blooms had fallen off. It was dried out or anything, and the other blooms looked okay except for the one that would have been directly next to the fallen one- it seemed like it had a small yellow spot. I give it filtered light and water it once a week, is it doomed??

We have a lot of guests who are not members, who look and try to learn. Only members can post a reply. What type of orchid do you have? Can you post a photo? Blooms don't last for ever. Sounds like that bloom has run its course and has died. No worries. If you post a photo it would help us, help you. Take Care, Rich

    Hi Squiggles,

I have edited your post to make your title more descriptive. Posting a descriptive title will encourage members to answer your question since they can see what your post is about right away.

Also, your photos did not show right away because they went into moderation. Please review the FAQs on posting and see this thread: New Members. To post photos, you can use the manage attachment button below the Advanced Editor. The quick reply (the box that displays at the bottom of the page of posts) doesn't have that feature, but if you click on the post reply button at the top or bottom of a thread or if you click the Go Advanced button below the quick reply, you will have many, many more options for posting.

Regarding your phal: It looks like normal bloom drop off. If the other flowers are not doing the same all at once, it is most likely fine. Moving an orchid around, air conditioning vents blowing on the blooms, too much water --all of these can also cause blooms and buds for fall off.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,
    BD

haha.. looks like you found the button before I finished my post. Glad you did. Also notice that your other photo post above was approved after the links were cleared through moderation.

    Cheers,
