This must top the ERK thing! This is going to be the 4th blooming of my Ascda Karen Ono and this time withtwo spikes. While shifting the other vandas around, look what hapopened - I broke one of the two spikes. What would have been a spectacular show is now reduced to just another blooming. Incidentally the other vandas in the pictures are all spiking.

Oh that really stinks! Most of us have been there at one point I suspect.

cannot be as bad as driving to the local show, (this happened yesterday) and going for a full loop around a round-a-bout to go the opposite way. This caused my beautiful cym. (the one featured in an earlier post reguarding id) to fall over and snap a spike! damn! i would have got 2nd or first but got 3rd instead. I lost to an ugly looking orange one that was far too round for a cym. in my opinion.

First rule in orchid judging-unless you're the judge, your opinion doesn't matter. Trust me, that can be an erk too .

yes it is, i went around with the judging panel to see how it all works, and they asked my vote on a odont. i said i liked that one on the left, because it had good flower count, shape, clear colour (brown centre with red specks and a crisp white lining on petals/sepals), and 3 spikes while the others had 1or 2. They all said ok that sounds good. but ended up voting a bland dark pink one as first.

Can't remember if anyone mentioned this one previously, and I was too lazy to go back and read all the old ones -- but I'm really getting erked with all the name changes happening in the orchid world (the catt/laelia/sophronitis group being among the most annoying in this regard).

Can I second this one...I can no longer pronounce the name they changed Dialaelia to. Caula-something.... I'm sticking with the originals and letting everyone correct me!

Might as well, they will be the 'new' names next week anyway.

    Cheers,
