Default my first paph...culture advice, please

    Hi,
I rec'd a Paph Urbanianum yesterday. Could someone who is familiar with it please give me culture advice? Since I've never grown a Paph before, I don't even know the basics, so I would appreciate any general tips, also.

Hello fellow alabamian! I don't live there currently....but I have recently gotten into paphs and have four that are doing quite well. I have mine potted in better-gro phal mix. They are outdoors with a pretty large temp difference between night and day...On my deck that receives full sun for most of the day, but under a seventy five percent shade cloth. They do get a bit of direct sun early in the morning. I don't worry too much about water as they were as dried out as could be when I got them and have dried out since, but are growing many new roots. (I always give them a bit of misting whenever the sphag that I have layered on top is dry.) What I am mindful of is fertilizer. My water is pretty hard, so I add very little...whenever I flush the pots, I use reverse osmosis water. I am getting a good amount of leaf and root growth and even have a new fan forming on one of them. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on this and help us both! They have been pretty easy going with me so far...I hope they are the same with you!

Thanks, Jason! I hope mine does as well as yours. Sounds like you're having good luck with em.

By the way, where in Bama? I live just south of Cullman...maybe 5 or so miles?? Anyway near here?

    Anyway, thanks again...

I lived in Auburn. Just moved to Sonoma Co, CA. I could smell the wineries from way back east and had to follow my nose. I actually grew up in the Alpine Bay area...Alpine, Childersburg. Born in Goodwater, near Alex City.
