    Default The Great Migration

The Great Migration is almost complete! My basement will soon be empty!

The question I have for you all is this:

Does anybody move their Paphs and/or Phrags outside for the Summer?

Only have Paphs and yes I do.
H*ll, I put my Masdies outside.
    I put seedlings outside.

As long as I can protect them from the fuzzy creatures, everything goes out and does great.

Nope, not me. Just because I have so many others that do better outside but I would assume any of the Paphs that enjoy temp drops would prefer it.

    Default the great seasonal migration

All 3,000+ orchids and several dozen bromeliads go out for the good weather (at leasbetter than winter) here in Ohio and then back in when the cold comes back. Pain in the a**! Never can find anything as the rationale for organizing them is different outside than inside. Inside the growlights are in the center of growth areas, and lots of things have to be arranged by height in order to ensure access to all. Three grow rooms. Outside, it's a matter of which platforms have which degree of shading. Did I mention it's a real pain in the a**?? It's the main reason I'm trying to get a greenhouse built.

Before the GH was built, I moved everything outside. I placed them in areas where I thought they would get the right ammount of light. In fact i think thats what made one of them bloom again for me. LOL Now in the GH still trying to get some to bloom again, but hopfully they are getting settled in. I think if the temps are right, and the light is right, and you can keep the critters off them then kick the little buggers out. They will like it better I think. To each his own.
    Have fun!!:toofull:

I have all my paphs outside on our patio. There is one end they all seem to like as the shade is mottled and perfect. I'll have to start bringing them in soon as the day temps will start topping out at 100 and that is too hot for them. I'm trying to get my husband to build a greenhouse. He has so lovingly enabled me by carrying my ochids back and forth that I think he is ready to build it and be done with my whining for one.

Just the Vandas, here. Everything else stays in the GH where the environment is more controllable. Can't risk any critter demolition tournaments, especially from things like Sue's greasy, hardened, and squinty-eyed city squirrels. This would be bad.
