    Default Show NOID

I just got home from a show with this orchid and didn't realize the tag was missing. If anyone recognizes it I would appreciate it. The vendor says the spikes produce a new flower every month and to never cut the spike off.

Picture must not have loaded, but it sounds like a psychopsis.

I am not that versed in all the subtle differences but it looks like my Psychopsis 'Mendenhall' Hildos. There are a couple of other crosses that result in basically the same flower but that is my best guess. Mine just fully opened yesterday. They are supposed to flower on the same spike for years if kept in good condition. Congrats and take care of her!

Thanks for the ID. It has three spikes. I heard that it does not like repotting. How do you care for yours?

I haven't had mine that long either. I bought it in spike. I have had it 2 or 3 months. I water when close to dry. Fertilize weakly weekly. I have heard many say that they don't like to be repotted and some say that it never bothers theirs. I do not feel like I need to change the one I have into a different pot so I won't until I really have to. I also have the alba (or yellow) form that is not yet spiking and 2 psy. papilio v flava that I am also waiting for spikes on. I will be in heaven when they all go to work for me!

I repotted mine two months ago when mine was flowering. But when carefully repotting, and by using superthrive, there was little disturbance to it. Mine is growing happily, and the third spike is growing longer and longer. You can check my previous threads in this subboard, in which some experienced growers provided their experience on how to repot this species.
