Default Help with this Orchid: Not growing.

Hi everyone, I have a question about this orchid I have here. I bought it over 1.5 years ago at a show and its not really grown at all since then. I'm sure its something I'm doing wrong. Says on the tag its a Phal. Hieroglyphica. Any help would be great!

Here it is the day I bought it, 1 year 7 months ago.

    This was taken today.

    Hi ,
I would say put it in a smaller pot but looking at the picture it might cause to much root damage , I would dump the bark out and add Spag. Moss it might not be getting enough moisture due to the size of the bark pieces . Gin

I am with Gin, pot is way too big and the media also too big. I grow all my species Phals. in straight New Zealand moss and soak them once a week with a couple shots of water during the week, depending on the moisture in the air. Repot annually.

Before moisture, I would consider fertilization and light. Do you periodically use an orchid formulated fertilizer? How much light does the plant get? Phalaenopisis generally like to be exposed to between 1,000 to 1,500 footcandles. Are you only using table lamps? Is the plant on a northern window sill or deeper into the room receiving east or west sun exposure?

I agree with the advice to repot into spagnum. If I were you i'd do a general search on where your little specie is native to. There are some websites that will give you a breakdown of yearround averages for temps and humidity in exotic areas. I'm thinking that these would be suited more to a terrarium setting than a normal orchid/phal. type setting. I could be wrong...but they just seem to thrive on humidity with very good air movement. Good Luck...
