    Default orchid suggestion for office?

I have a few foliage plants at my cubicle at work that have done ok. I have regular office lighting and some indirect window light. But I will be moving into a small office that won't be as bright. I don't think I will move the current plants into there but would like to get something new.

Does anyone have any any suggestions for an orchid that would be easy to care for in low light and cool to average office temps? And obviously don't require much humidity.

Not to rain on your parade, Nicki, but without supplemental lighting I think you will have to toss in the towel on this dream.

How about instead, using better conditions at home to get a nice health phal or other orchid in bloom and then let the blooming orchid "visit" you at work for a week or two before taking it back home to where conditions are more favorable?

That's just what I do. The orchids like it better that way...

Darn, I was hoping there might be a low light loving orchid out there that would be perfect. I don't know about having my home orchids visit cause I have yet to get anything to bloom I will look into other plants or maybe some artwork to liven up the space. Thanks all.

How about an Aechmea bromeliad? They don't mind low light and the blooms can last as long or longer than some orchids. They are pretty easy to care for too.

Good luck to you, Nicki! And before long you home orchids will bloom !!

    Cheers,
    BD

i think, you can fulfill your dream with fake orchids, as they will be cheap and easy to handle and easy to look after.

There are some incredibly lifelike fake orchids out there if you decide to go that route. Course the really good imitations aren't cheap, but barring accidents they last and last. There's a woman I know who does excellant work. I've seen more than one person fooled. If it sounds like something that might interest you, pm me.
