Default Orchid Flower Spikes started up???

This is one of my unknown cuttings that was given to me about 8 years ago. It has never bloomed. This year I re-potted it, changed fertilizer, and started catching rain water for all my orchids. I noticed these little shoots today and they look like they might be flower spikes. Anyone else think that's what they are?? Or am I getting my hopes up for nothing? Anyway, I'll be watching them closely to see what develops.

It looks like your plant may be an oncidium and the shoots look like new growths to me. A lot of my oncidiums are sending out new growth like crazy right now. Keep your eye on them and your fingers crossed that they are spikes but I think they are new growths from the look of them.

They look a little different than past new growth...but I suppose that could be a contribution from the better food and water and re-potting. I am sure hoping. I'd like to know what the blooms look like...and maybe get an ID on the plant! Thanks for your input. I'll keep you posted on how they develop!

I agree, new growth on an oncidium type orchid. This is where you will get a spike after the p-bulb develops on this new growth. Congratulations.

    Cheers,
