    Red face Urea Free Fertilizer

I currently use Peters Excel for my orchids but it is next to impossible to find anyone who sells this any longer so I need to find another type of fertilizer. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a urea free fertilizer. Do those of you that use this type of fertilizer really see a difference in your orchids. Do you use this type of fertilizer on all types of orchids.
    Thanks

There are other brands of urea free fertilizer around that are available by mail order if not available in stores in your area. I personally prefer urea free, but have used fertilizer in the past that had urea. I can't say that I noticed a big difference that I could attribute to urea or not. There is somewhat a debate on urea free or not by the fertilizer heads out there, but I have seen really beautiful plants using either fertilizer. I suspect that there are other factors than just urea or not in play.

Urea is not an easily broken down form of nitrogen. It can build up and burn roots also. You wast a lot of it as it is washed out of the medium before it breaks down and is used by the plant.
