    Default Root sealant?

    Okay, just unspotted my new orchid and found some of its roots are rotted. I have no root sealant for it (when I cut them). I have tree wound sealant, but nothing for roots. Is there anything else I can use, or do I need to go a track that down?

    Hi Styx, if you clip back the dead / rotten roots, you shouldn't have to seal anything before you repot the plant.

    I use tree wound sealant when I divide, but not on roots, just rhizome. If you're concerned about fungus getting in, you can always put some cinnamon on your finger and dab the ends of the roots with that; be careful using too much, or sprinkling any on live roots: it can dry them out and possibly kill them.

    Thank you very much. I hope it recovers, because taking a closer looks, it seems as if it's not in the best of shape. ~_-;
