Smile And How Does Your Garden Grow?

Hello Orchid Fans!; I was wondering what everyone thought were the easiest orchids to grow and what they thought were the hardest to grow? This to me would mean healthy plants and of course to keep our eyes on the prize......... getting blooms! Thanks in advance for your responses. AL

For me the easiest would be the vandaceous and dendrobiums and the most difficult would be the oncidium alliance.

Al, you are going to get all kind of answers depending on the geographic location of each and every member. The easiest to grow in my greenhouse in India are dendrobiums and vandaeceous and most Catts. Here in Bremen I find Phals and oncidiums as easy. Difficult to grow in India for me are certain Paphs and masdevallias, here in Bremen I find it difficult to grow Vandaeceous and Catts.

Oh so true Amey, but there are in orchids as in other plant species some that are more adaptable and tougher than others. I have a Epidendrum that grows like and the foilage looks like a weed. The flowers are very pretty and ever blooming. I swear I could abuse the thing and it would survive. Anyway, we are looking for these tough plants and their stories and those that are more delicate in nature. AL

Here in the warm, Sunny (sometimes Hot) Caribbean we can grow successfully Vandaceous, Phals, Dens, Onc. alliance, Catts, & Epi. Some Zygopetalum will come into bloom when the weather suits them !!!!.

Oncidium is quite easy for me, and also Dendrobium and cattleyas. I'm having difficulties with vandas n some hybrid phals, while most of the growers find them easy. Maybe more practice for me
