I, also fertilize weekly, weakly ( 1/4 ) of what is recommended. I do this three times a month, then, water with plain water once a month. The blossom booster is: 10-30-20, growth is:20-20-20 Seems to work well for my orchids...Betty :-)

Our Malaysian conditions are completely different so my fertilising regime may not apply to New Zealand.I grow outdoors 24/7 under 50% shade. Due to our high rainfall, leaching is a real problem and unless we have high frequency fertilising our plants suffer from lack of nutrients. So for what it is worth I fertilise weakly weekly with 21:21:21 soluble fertiliser and with bloom booster every 4th application. I also use Osmocote on my paphs, cattelyas, dendrobiums. I have been using Gaviota 63 and 67 for a long time.
Thanks Yew & Betty, just remind you that I'm actually from Vietnam, hehe .

I created this thread just want to see how different of feeding orchid regime from countries to countries and growers to growers. Then get a better idea on myself regime that I could apply to my orchids. In Vietnam, I usually use Grow more (N-P-K: 20-20-20) for all purposes but if particular need, I use grow fert. (30-10-10) and blom fert. (6-30-30), also I use fish liquid and other medical stuff to "kill" the insects and protect my plants from diseases.

At the moment studying in NZ, with a new place where I want to grow some for my bobby, I will try to get much infos from some experience growers then I will apply and get more experience for myself

Gaviota is the brand name for a fertiliser specially formulated for orchids and it is an American product that is manufactured in Hawaii. Years ago when I started growing orchids we had 2 products to choose from Welgro from the Uk and Gaviota. Both were good but the former was difficult to completely dissolve. Gaviota unfortunately is now not sold in small quantities. I get mine from a nursery which orders in bulk.
