I've been using it with the semi-hydro pots for a few years. Don't use it to start seedlings and maxillaria don't do well in it for me, but that could be something else. Haven't noticed much of a pattern to what doesn't work with it. The plastic pots only last a few years however and trying to clean up the prime agra is too much of a hassle to be worth it. It's not cheaper.

What I like about the semi-hydro is that I think it lets me have greater humidity in the plant area. I water twice a week and have a ceiling fan running 24/7, which evaporates it fairly fast. I put the semi-hydro pots in plastic trays that catch the overflow and spills.

    Dear Janet,
Thanks for the response. I was more thinking of using it as an additive to bark or as the media for a few of my more dry loving. I use traditional pot culture, not s/h. I think by adjusting the mix and using aircone pots some of them might do better.
    Thanks, Remo

I hope if you do you will document your process and the progress of the orchids. Seems like an interesting idea.

    Cheers,

I have tried it for semi-hydro with mixed results. I have also bought bark mix that includes what appears to be PrimeAgra. The orchids seem quite happy in the mix.
