Default year old odontocidium tiger crow, looking better

I purchased an Od. "tiger crow" at a local hardware store. it has been growing on a cypress mount but had not put out any new growth. I placed it on a new mount, as the roots had not really taken hold, and within a week, it looks like a different plant. it has only two pseudobulbs, the oldest one was shriveled and hard on the original mount, and now it is fat and healthy looking, as is the younger one. I mist it every day with water with miracle grow orchid fertilizer. If anyone could tell me what could have caused this new growth?, OH, btw, there is a third shoot coming off now. does anyone have some species specific info for this particular orchid? and also, it says on the card that was with it that it should have medium light. does anyone know how big this thing needs to be to bloom? any info on this would be appreciated, as I love the colour on these flowers and would really like to get mine to bloom soon.

Sounds like you met its requirements. I would be careful, however, of misting with fertilized water. The fertilizer can build up on the leaves, leave spots or a gray film and feeding through transpiration into the leaves is rather minimal at best. I would mist with plain water and then give the roots a good soak once a week with some fertilizer. If I mist I do so with R.O. water to keep the leaves clean. I have found, however, that alot of misting seems to generate alot of stray errant roots roaming into the air - something that drives me crazy, especially when you move a plant and another comes with it, roots firmly set inside the pot of the other plant.
