Relook at the pamphlet, Magda, or show your boyfriend some other information from the internet (or anywhere else!), because I can't imagine anyone saying a bloom will last 2 years.

You may to sneak a succession of identical plants in and make your boyfriend THINK they are the same one, doing well and still in bloom. It will cost you a little bit up front, but if it means he will continue to buy you flowers, it will pay off in the long run!!

Sorry to hear about your bud, BD. I just broke some roots of my favorite orchid, Angraecum Magdalenae, so I know the feeling. Actually, I know the feeling very well. This past winter/spring was a series of misfortune where spikes and buds were concerned. Hope something else blooms spectacularly to cheer you!

hah, thank you. and i researched things on-line, he's the one relying on the pamphlet. I don't think he was serious, tho. he's actually likely to buy them for me again, cuz now he knows how much i like them.
