Thank's to all who got on and gave their time and shared information on this orchid. I would love to find the name. It has been fun on the forum also.

Anyone who says its an orchid is not correct. Sorry guys, i found it is a Gladiolus-Gladiolus byzantinus or a related species.

Very pretty though, i would have dug it up and put it in my garden! Does it have strap like leaves similar to a Gladiolus?

Even though it's not an orchid...it is very pretty! Keep your eyes open, though, we do have a lot of native orchids that grow here;( the U.S.A. ) even up North where it gets a hard freeze in the Winter...Betty
