Awesome! It was on my list on orchids to get. Now the funny thing is that I thought they were supper fragrant, I remember it being so when I bought it a few years ago. When the blooms first opened it had no fragrance, this morning it has some fragrance but not as strong as I remember. Does it normally take a while for the full fragrance to kick in? I just remember my apt at the time being full of fragrance when I first bought it.

    Thanks,
    Miller

Yes it does depend on time, temperature etc. When the orchid is ready to be pollinated it will produce the scent. I have a cattleya hybrid which produces smell like an insect repellant for the first few day, may be to keep off insects as the plant is not ready for pollination, in about 4 day the scent changes to a very pleasant sweet scent like a perfume that fills the whole room.

This morning it was very fragrant, I never paid attention to how long it took my other orchid to become fragrant. I was so excited the blooms opened on the once NOID that I was smeeling them as soon as they started to crack open! LOL

    Thanks again!

Congratulations on this one, Miller. So far, this is my favorite orchid fragrance. I'll have to tell mine that yours is blooming again, so it shouldn't feel shy about doing that for me, either!

It actually has two spikes so make sure you tell yours that bit of information as well! Now I have another oncidium alliance that has two spikes and it only has fragrance in the mornings (normally) they all smell like chocolate to me! lol

Oh, I'll let mine know - be sure of that! I know this is supposed to smell like chocolate, but I don't get that scent from mine. I absolutely love the scent it has, but I really don't get chocolate from it. Oh well, good is good, no matter what flavor!!

Funny on the smell, i was thinking the same thing, but did not want to rock the chocolate boat lol! I think it is more of a vanilla smell myself but who knows.

So I was in the shower and it hit me what the smell reminds me of, CAKE BATTER. I remember as a kid liking the blender beaters after my mom mixed the yellow cake mix! Oh the memories!
