    Default Your most expensive orchid?

OK, spill the beans. What's the most expensive orchid you've bought? Mine is just under £100 but that's about to change. :0(

450NZD (double that number for pounds...) for a Dendrochilum tenellum (syn Acoridium). Apparently very rare in NZ like most, and it seems my orchid society members agree that was a bargin!

Paph rothchildianum for MR 150 (approx US $50 ). That's my limit and that's why I haven't got a Phal gigantea yet.

It's very tempting, isn't it, to get that one really expensive plant. there are some lovely catts out there that I would like and most of them are over 1500 USD. One day I will do it and go for broke and be unashamedly frivolous. Unless someone would like to get it for me LOL.

By size it would be 90 Euros ~ US $ 130 for a small Fredclarkeara After Dark which will take like 3 years for it to bloom, if I don't kill it. The next was 150 Euros ~ US $ 215 for a blooming size Paphiopedilum sanderianum, which has not yet bloomed. I have been drooling at some very beautiful Cattleya cultivars all in the price range of US $ 3500 to $ 10,000 for divisions. I guess I will have to rob a few banks to get those Cattleyas LOL !

    C. loddigesii var coerulea ‘Blue Sky’ x self I paid $35 for the one plant. The blooms are a beautiful lt. blue, (see my avitar), but the plant is fragile looking with twisted leaves and some yellowing pbulbs. I wanted it badly, but probably won't spend that much for one orchid EVER again.

That is how much our cheapest phals cost in supermarkets and nurseries lol
I can spend tht much at an orchid nursery and i can get several!

Most expensive orchid i have seen for sale at a supermarket or general plant nursery? 170NZD

Like a member of the public will spend that much on a common NOID phal, they usually end up in the trash heap out the back of these establishments, but sure, one of us could easily bloom it a second time ae?

My most expensive orchids were a couple of cattleya seedlings, for 18 euros - aprox. 26 US dollars each.
