    Talking Favorite fragrant orchid

Just curious, as there are lots of fragrant orchids what are your favorites- in your collection or of all time. I am still very new to orchids and have only one fav. fragrant in my meager collection- my mystery ( possibly brother laurance) phal. it isn't always fragrant however, but when it is it is a great thing to smell!

I love the tiny Haraella retrocalla. It has a very strong lemon scent for the size of the flowers. Just never tire of it.

I have a couple of fragrant flowers. My current favorite is the sederia japonica that I posted a photo of today. Could be the current fav because it just opened after 18+ months of growing -- or maybe it will actually hang on to the fav spot. It has a lemony-jasmine smell. (Yum)

A couple of my phals are fragrant too:

Phal. Little Mary 'Cherry Blossom' - light fruity sent
Phal. Sogo Manager 'FANGtastic' -- Brother Lawrence is one parent so it has that smell.

Alright Carrion Boys -- where are all those stinky flowers of yours. Meg25 asked for your favorites -- could it be that you don't actually like the carrion-scented blooms. Hmmm -- suspicious.

I don't think I have any stinky orchids although my Bulbos haven't bloomed yet. When we talk about REALLY stinky flowers here, we're talking about Amorphophallus (not an orchid). I got my first one last year and now I have Louis hooked on 'em too. We had a thread going in the Bulb Club. Here's a link to it.

Default Its stinky but not an orchid

Ok, I have to throw this one in, but unfortunatly it is not an orchid (I didn't realize there were stinkers in the orchid world...but 'chids are amazing and seem to find every nich possible it seems!). Ok, ok, so it isn't an orchid, but it is a family tradition to grow Amorphophallus rivieri, or the so called "Stink Lily" which smells like a dead deer left on the side of the road in the hot baking sun of August for a week (not to be confused with the diminuative "voodoo" lily which smells like elephant dung). My fathers Amorphophallus patch is about one quarter of his garden (which is 3/4 of an acre). Neighbours complain for a short time, but no one has called the police yet!
