Default TOP 3 (or 5 for you compulsive types)

What are your top 3 favorite orchids? of all time from any genera?

You know, the plants you would chose if you could only keep 3? (don't panic--it won't come to that).

Or maybe the plants you would love to have?

What three orchids are MUST haves? The three plants the rest of us should run out and buy tomorrow.

Okay, I hear some of you saying ONLY THREE -- so for you compulsive types, how about the top 5.

#1 is definitely Psychopsis papilio--the ultimate orchid!

#2 is tougher, but perhaps Burrageara Nelly Isler

#3 might be Oncidium Sharry Baby (so shoot me)

    #4 Oncidium Twinkle 'Fragrance Fantasy'

#5 Phalaenopsis Brother Saragold (had to include one Phal!)

    Cheers,

    Rob

    This is hard.

I'm going to have to think about it.

If I pick out three, the others are going to find out, get insulted, and develop fungus.

Believe it or not, the first is Sharry Baby for me too. I just love it. It's like the godzilla of orchids, it can't die, grows like a mad man, I love the smell, etc. I had 4 simultaneous spikes this past winter and now the insane thing has like 7 new pseudobulbs! Beyond that, it's a tough call. I do love my complex hybrid bulldog paph, Komi hates it, but I think it's way cool. I also loved my onc ornithroblahblahblah, the smell was intoxicating, but it caught a cold or something and quickly departed this earth earlier in the year. And possibly my harlequin phals

LOL, LJA. I was planning to say, "all of them except stinky Bulbos"!

OK, Sadie said "compulsive" so top of the list are:

#1. Hybrid Phals, those with big, flat flowers. They are the first one to attrack my attention everytime I go look/shop for orchids, (so what if they are too common? I like 'em).
#2. Miltoniopsis, I can't grow them so I don't have them but if I have means to grow them, I'll buy loads of them .
#3. Odontoglossum intergenerics, those with bright markings. Again, I can't grow them .
#4. Floofs!!... both standard and minis.
    #5. Vanda

    Default Hmmm picking 3.

    One would be
1 want Blc. Xanthette ‘Chartreuse’ - mainly because if I could get one to do really well and start dividing it I could make a bundle. they go for 3000 on one web site.

    2
want Lc. Pirate King ‘Crimson Glory’ HCC/AOS I love red

3 have would be my NOID red spider orchid. Have no idea what it is but it's pretty and was my first.

ok, I went away and thought about this for a while, but now I am back and am ready to put my three... yes, as compulsive as I am, I have narrowed it down to three... as with Louis, this is for your eyes only and not for my 'chids...

    So:-

    3. Paphiopedilum laevigatum

    2. Paphiopedilum philippinense

    1. Paphiopedilum roebelenii

Weird thing is I have never flowered any of these myself... but I supposedly, from my orchid collection list anyways, have these three varieties... so fingers crossed... number three is blooming size and number 1 is NBS so cross fingers...

    Cheers
    T
