I have a specie phal I almost got rid of. I kill most species...quickly and very ugly....so I hesitated. But with my new back area the darn thing is thriving and is going to be blooming on all 3 spikes shortly. Hang in there...sometimes it's the plant not you.

I presume 'Yellow Splash' is peloric, but that isn't necessarily relevant. If var. champornensis is a true and properly published variety then only plants 100% descended from properly identified var. champornenis plants get that name. It doesn't necessarily apply to every peloric D. pulcherrima out there in the wild or under cultivation. I don't think there is any way to know if 'Yellow Splash' meets the requirements. A plant descended from var. champornensis crossed with a normal D. pulcherrima is not var. champornensis even if it is peloric like var. champornensis.

On the other hand, if var. champornensis has not been validly published you can call any dandelion in your lawn var. champornensis and no one can say you are wrong.

Can we be sure of that? From the way the name is written here we don't know if it is Phal. violacea x (D. pulcherrima x D. pulcherrima) or (Phal. violacea x D. pulcherrima) x D. pulcherrima - Dtps. Kenneth Schubert or Dtps. Little Blue Bird.

You don't include any parentheses in your name. This could be Dtps. Little Blue Bird (Kenneth Schubert x pulcherrima).

    Hi Kirk,
Thank you for taking some time to answer this post. Here is a photo of the tag that came with the plant. I have edited the Suppliers name out of the tag as per rules

I think the tag should imply Little Blue Bird, but it is possible your supplier doesn't even know for sure unless they made the cross themselves.
