When orchid clips came out I bought a gross (1000) each size. They are very easy to use and save you time when preparing an exhibit. They are also excellent to hide blemishes or a "pinched" stem. When I see that the stress with the clip is too much I change to another method. The butterfly ones are softer but look horrible (my opinion). It's a good method if well used.

I find that those types of clips are too strong for most stems-in general the clear/colored plastic butterfly or dragonfly clips seem much gentler.
