    Post Orchid regret

I wonder if anyone can relate to this feeling: I went to my local supermarket and they had a beautiful Phalaenopsis there with white flowers with purple / indigo blotches on. I loved it but as I had nowhere to put it I moved on.

A couple of days passed and I thought, "Darn it I want that Phal now!" So I made up my mind and as you probably guessed it was GONE! Aaaarrrgggghhhh!!!

I have never seen anything like it since and I'm devastated that I never grabbed it when I had the chance.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

I believe this happens often. For me it is usually when I visit a nursery and see something that is just a bit too expensive and so I don't get it. Then, when I get home and unpack whatever I did get - I usually regret not just getting the plant that interested me instead of two more hybrids of something else. LOL.

But, like everything in life, things come around again and again. Patience is the key and going with your first instinct is the goal rather than second guessing. hahaha....

    cheers,
    BD

I have it often...buyer's regret. I can't tell you how often I've come home only to call and ask if the grower will pull that plant to the side for me. Pat (Zozzl) can attest to it

Happens to me a lot of times too m9mike! Lol
When it happens I either persevere and go to the same place regularly just in case...or else I give up and say to myself 'just too bad, but I'll come across it again in future and this time I won't have any second thought' Lol

I think most of us have 'been there, done that'. I try to tell myself that there was a reason I didn't end up with it. Like mealies or scale or rootrot....

I did this last night. I had gone to a small orchid class at a local nursery. They had a blooming "Sharry Baby" there. OMG, it was the first time I had ever smelled one in person. Last night I was thinking I need to have one of those having a husband who is a major choc-o-holic, he would love it. I bought one online which is just a small starter plant. This morning I was kicking myself thinking for just a few dollars more I could have had the blooming size plant. *sigh* oh well, it will be just that much more exciting if I can get this little one to bloom, right?

Look at it this way, one of the most wonderful thing about orchids is their uniqueness - which makes passing one up, or losing one feel like an opportunity never to come round again. On the other hand, the chances of you finding something as unique and special are pretty great - and you'll have the funds mentally allotted for it already! BTW, if you ever think you might like a "rare" cobalt blue phal, let me know - there are thousands of white phals with blue dye injected in their stems around here - pretty much identical, too. And then I'll tell you to go have your head examined first - those things are criminal!
