I have about 15 or so minis and they have varying amounts of media behind them. Some, like my leptodes bicolor seem to be mounted on nothing but the stick and it's throwing spikes right now. Of the ones (and they are in the majority) that are planted with some medium usually with the orchid on top use moss rather than sphagnum moss. In fact none of my mini's use sphagnum moss except the first one I mounted - a neo, Falcata. I tend to soak it good and then let it dry out all the way (at least it seems to dry all the way) before watering again with the mister.

Oh by the way, I use a regular "squirt" bottle from the grocery that you tighten down the nozzle for a finer mist like water. Is there a better tool for actually misting these plants?

Hope that was some help anyway, and I'd love to know about different misters.

Thanks for your time and interest,

    Phillip C

Gary I'm sorry I'm just now seeing there were additional posts to my thread. All of the mini's are still doing good. I've kept them in the same pots for now. The Aerangis is showing new leaf growth. Sadly the start of a spike on the Holcoglossum dried and died but the plant itself is ok. The Encyclia has put out some nice new roots and I am going to try to repot that one soon in something more open.

Phillip, while the spray won't be as fine as that from a spray bottle, the pump containers sold for use of herbicides/pesticides work well and last me a lot longer.
