Do any of y'all find that it helps with anything specific, or is it just a general boost for the plant?

I use it on my ferns. It doesn't burn. And all of my aroids love it! I know it is a good root stimulator.

Definitely something that is better to use outside, because yes it does reek for a day or two. If you have a shaded spot outside to temporarily relocate a few indoor orchids with which you wish to experiment, that would be my recommendation. A woman I knew used to water her orchids and Schlumbergera (the latter were HUGE plants) with the grundgy/mucky water from cleaning the bottom of her freshwater fish tank. Plants did great.

OKAY - UPDATE: I JUST USED THE !@##$%$#^%&$ STUFF AND IT REEKS!!!! I think they were hallucinating when they said they put wintergreen in it to neutralize the smell. I thought I was going to throw up - so, in desperation, I sprinkled a little ground cinnamon into the water. Voila - it helps a little. At least I can just open all the windows and don't have to go to a hotel for the next 3 days!

This stuff had better turn my plants into Superorchids!

UPDATE TO UPDATE: It took me nearly until now - which is to say, all day - to finish feeding the orchids their fish dinner. I hope they loved it and will cherish the memory because it will NEVER happen again!

I'd rather water them with an eyedropper for 72 hours straight....

Adding a drop of liquid dish washing soap to the water and fertilizer mix lessens the smell. I use ivory soap.
