I came very close to buying a VFT, but went with the others. I have a very minor issue right now. The Masdie/sphag is causing it for sure. At any rate, we'll see. I've got the physan to fall back on, but one Masdie is spiking, so trying to refrain.

    Me too!

But I played with it so much I broke it and the traps wouldn't close any more, and then it died.

BTW, on those carniverous things, I understand they should never be fertilized, otherwise they don't grow their traps / pitchers / tentacles / etc.

Anyone know if this is true?

    Oh, that's kinda sad, Louis!
At least you moved on and did not give up plants for good!

The instructions indicate there is no reason to fertilze, as they will get all the nutrients from the nasty creatures I am trying to kill. Glad they are useful to someone!

I am hoping it will grab the sqiters too - I have an awful habit of leaving my screen door open for too long! My paranoia re: orchids is helping to change that, I must say!

Also, there is a misconception. Since it is a "carnivore", it doesn't mean they eat meat and some people think the carnivorous plants eat meat.

Oh, so I shouldn't feed it that filet? Hmmm.

lol! I think that's how I killed mine. Too much filet. I kept throwing food at it and then it just stopped closing and then I would *make* it close by pinching it and, well, after the peanut butter--

    yeah.....

Ha! too funny - why do I think you are exagerating just a teensy bit?

I used to catch flies and feed them to my VFT. A friend of mine fed groundbeef to his VFT and killed the poor thing.
