Default Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' tons of spikes!

This was my first Orchid purchased a few years ago when I live in Chicago. I just wanted to share a photo of all the spikes it sent out this season. The first time I got it to rebloom I only got two spikes now I have 8! This is the one that is outgrowing its 8" pot. Many of my other orchids are in spike as well, you can see some of those to the left of the photo. the longest spike I measured is 2.6 feet long. I can't wait to see and smell the flowers

Thanks, I have to admit I am just kind of winging it, I am still in my infantsy stage with orchids. I don't have any room in the pot to add support to most of the spikes so I think I will let them be au naturel. I will certainly post pictures as the buds begin to bloom.

Some hybrids do very well even in poor conditions...my Sharry Baby is one of those. But you must be providing exactly what your plant wants for it to perform for you in this way! Good job!Posted via Mobile Device

Thanks all for the encouragement and compliments on my baby. It is the first orchid i had ever purchased and will always have a special place in my heart. I am going to repot it once all the blooms fade into a nice pot that will allow it to expand more. Since space is not an issue for me I want all my orchids to become specimens!
