    Default Correct fertilizing protocol

What is the legitimately correct way to fertilize orchids, if there is a straight arrow answer? I've read all kinds of things from watering first and then fertilizing, to watering one day and fertilizing the next etc. I personally just dunk my plants in a fertilizer solution once a week. No prior watering. No witchcraft or wizardry. I just let them soak in it for about 10-20 minutes.

Plants get stressed of shifting conditions, this suggest that a very weak fertilization on every or every second watering are the best.
I therefore belive in weak fertilization at every watering.

It have been investigated on forests (not orchids) were you traditionally fertilize very seldom with high dosage. The growth was better when fertilization was controlled and at low doze with short intervals.

In my opinon and through the success of many reblooms has been due to a weak soultion of fertilizer in warm tepid water that I heat in the mirocwave. I found that they respond better to being fed warm water. I do not pre water , just one but I dunk it in a bucket and leave each orchid in there to soak for a good 5 minutes while I talk to the next orchid and dust it's leaves then getting it ready for it's watering. Also I should mention the water is from the dehumidfier from our laundry room not tap water. So i think there is no set rule just whatever suits you.

What you're doing is good. The "water first" principle was based on using the strength of fertilizer used for other plants, so this doesn't apply to our orchids. If you water first and then fertilize, your orchids will get very little nutrients unless they are in a media that holds water for long periods.
