That's great! I think its more psychological with me. It depends on how many of my orchids are in bloom at one given time. If there is not much to please one's eye, there is the bout of emotion and the impulse to buy more. No wonder, some of us can be enormously unhappy and depressed if the results are not apparent "soon enough". That's the case with me. Now I have, 22- Cymbidiums, 6-Psychopsis, 2-Dendrobiums, 3-oncidiums, 4-Phalaenopsis, 1-Cattleya, 2-Laelia, 1-Phragmipedium, 1-Miltoniopsis and 6- Wildcats. All were bought on very tight finances and I simply can't afford anymore. In fact, I will be auctioning off the cymbidiums before winter because I don't have to space to bring them indoors for the winter months.

i have a kind of a weakness for rescues....why do so many people like to kill orchids?? they buy expensive stuff and then it just sits outside somewhere suffering in deep shade or on a scorching hot patio......i have too many
NOIDS because of that......so my appetite kinda fed without going out to buy......and also i could just go to the country side and walk in overgrown citrus orchards(orchids love this environment) so far i have collected..Encylia fragrans,Dimerandra stenopetala,Caularthron bicornatum,Rodriguezia lanceolata and recently got 2 Ionopsis utricularoides just as i thought i wasted a trip.....also a lucky find of a Brassovola cuculatta and Trichocentrum luridum on a sidewalk tree in a boat yard parking lot........although these are "wild" collected plants......i dont regard them as wild in the true sense of the word...an orchard and a parking lot don't strike me as great outdoors......correct me if i'm wrong

Hehee...I did a head count the other day and was shocked when I realized I had 40! One would think that would have stopped my habit in its tracks...and I did spend a few moments feeling guilty...but that all evaporated when I saw these gorgeous Catts that I just fell in love with...aaaaand...now I have five more plants in the mail. And I have my eye on a Sharry Baby that I feel like my collection just wouldn't be complete without...

Aww, who am I kidding...our collections will never be "complete," will they?
