Default Vanda culture or rather mistake

I must be obsessed. I feel physically sick because I stupidly cut off a big Vanda root. I thought it was dead until I had already cut it and pulled it away from the plant. That's when I noticed all of the nice healthy roots growing off of what I thought was dead. Argggggg.....I feel like such a bad orchid grower. I'm going to go sit in the corner and contemplate my orchid short comings.

Hopefully, this Vanda will forgive me and bounce back. I bought it about a year ago from a nursery at a bargain price because it was in pretty bad shape. I've been nursing it along and it was really putting out some great healthy roots. I've been hoping for a bloom spike and I hope I haven't messed that up. I need a big dose of patience right now.

Hang in there. We've all made mistakes and cutting a root is not as terrible as others. Orchid growing takes patience & persistence and with that patience and persistence comes the reward of healthy orchid plants with mesmerizing blooms. Don't beat yourself up too much. Chalk it up to experience - and hope you don't do it again.

    cheers,
    BD

Don't worry about it. I trim vanda roots quite often because long roots don't work well in my grow area. I've never seen any adverse affects from doing it. I'm sure your vanda will be fine.

Don't feel bad, if that's your worse mistake you have it made.

Don't feel too bad. Vandas are tough and it will soon put out new roots.
