Cattleya Orchid bouncing back?

This is a discussion on Cattleya Orchid bouncing back? within the General Orchid Culture forums, part of the Orchid Culture category; I just noticed this root...or if it is a root, but its really white? not ...

    Default Cattleya Orchid bouncing back?

    I just noticed this root...or if it is a root, but its really white? not sure if its a positive sign that my sick cattleya is bouncing back...anyone have any encouraging or discouraging feedback? thanks!

    sorry its so small, having a hard time figureing out sizes that will upload to the forum, but its the really bright white, stub thing in the center of the pic....

    Photos can be 700 px by 700 px at 72 dpi. (that is huge for viewing in the forum) The photo you uploaded is only 190 px by 143 at 72 dpi. (2.6 inches by 1.9 inches) It could be as large as 700 x 527 at 72 dpi or 9.7 x 7.3 inches.

    Looks a lot like a new root to me - keep an eye on it so that it doesn't get too large before you get it under the medium. My experience is that new catt. roots have finite amount of time before they're unhappy being dried in the air.

    My vote is for root, but keep the cinnamon handy.
