    Default Vanda gone wild

Is this the growth season for Vandas? Mine have all started sending out crazy amounts of roots. I got most of them this year with only a few good roots. Now they are sending out roots and even new leaves. I am so excited! Now if I can keep them alive through the winter!

Congratulations on all the new growth. Summer is the growing season for vandas as it is for almost all orchids. The fact that you're experiencing a lot of root and leaf growth indicates to me that your vandas are getting the proper amount of light and are well cared for. Good job.

Sounds like you are doing a great job. The challange in the winter is to keep your plants above 60 F if at all possible. One dip to 50 can cause cold damage that won't show itself until spring. When the temps begin to warm the plant begins to rot and you won't be able to stop it from slowly dying. It's something i've done before. Congrats on all the new roots and growth...

    Default Even better news...

Thanks everyone! i was inspecting this morning and found a spike on my MKRA Eric Nauchie! I am so stoked now! I think I may be getting hooked on Vandas! A coupled days ago I ordered two more along with some other types.

It seems like as soon as my last blossom died about a month ago, the plant went into vigorous root (and now leaf) growth.

Same thing happened with one of mine. It had a spike, seems like only days after I cut it the root growth went nuts!
