Default Bifoliate cattleyas - Do they need more water than unfoliates?

I've grown unifoliate cattleyas for many years but only ventured into bifoliates for a little over a year now. Some of my bifoliates, like C. violacea, C. loddigessi and some others, seem to be dehydrated when I water them at the same intervals as my unifoliate catts.. Do any of you have experience with these bifoliates? Do they require more moisture than unifoliates? Do you use different potting media or do you just water more often?

I'm not a very good grower of bifloliate Cattleya species (maybe because they are not my favorite species). I did not succeed well in pots, so I grow them mounted on cork with a very small layer of sphagnum.
The pseudobulbs of bifoliate are thinner than monofoliate ones and, since they have not a robust ability to store water, they need to have a very good root system (it is critical for a species such as C. velutina).
I hope my comment has helped you but I'm not sure to be 100% in topic.

Hi Jeff, I grow a couple of bifoliate species and hybrids, in my opinion they like to be watered often, that does not mean they like to stay moist say like a Sophronitis, they like to dry out fast and then watered again. They love basket culture, or simply a very to be very overpotted, so that the media dries up pretty fast. They also like higher light compared to my unifoliates.

Yeah. Most bifoliate species like warmer temperature, high humidity, but not soggy wet feet. So either mount them or grow them in basket or clay pots. C. violacea like hot condition, and high humidity. Also they don't tend to grow lots of robust roots compare to unifoliate so check if the plants has good roots system and need to be repot.
