Question Dendrobium keikis. I'd like to know your opinion about what to do.

    Hello everybody!
I have these cuties growing from the old canes and now the babies are growing babies!
I'd like to know what to do because I actually get a lot of these little guys; but every time I get them in their individual pot, they all die!
What would be the best option when I have to pot them?
And what about this Phal's leaves? I've noticed that more than a couple of them are growing leaves like this one. They seem to be healthy but strange looking.
Is it a virus or something like that? Thank you all!

Here is a video I made that will help you know what to do with your dendrobium keikies. I hope it helps you out!

    Cheers,

Thanks Bruce. I have actually done it that way before but as I said, the plants died. The ones on your video are huge and mine are tiny! lol
As you can see on the first picture, 2 plantlets are growing from the same old little cane and they're already growing their own babies. They are about 2 inch tall and their roots around 1 inch long. Should I wait more or pot them up now? they don't look like they're gonna grow more! hehe

Another way...I take old canes and attach them with a twist tie to a piece of wood and hang or set it in my vanda area where it gets higher levels of moisture, humidity and they get watered every day in the summer. This cane had rotted at the bottom and the keikei grew off the middle after I had thrown the cane under my potting bench for a month or so. I used to rot dendrobiums and killed keikeis potting them as well. This is the only way i've saved any keikei's so far. Most of the orchid growers I know do it Bruce's way successfully; I don't know why I can't grow them that way.

Thanks Connie. I thought about it but I live in zone 7 so I can't have them outside. I grow all my orchids indoors year round but I'm tempted to try that!

Indoors growing...I admire you all! I have the right locale to raise orchids, I cannot imagine what all must go in to growing indoors. Wintertime in the greenhouse is challenging enough for me.
