Default Stanhopea tricornis - Box Orchid

Yes, a orchid in a box. Little clay pot, dried moss and a baby plant in a sealed flask with agar in the bottom. My daughter brought it back from Ecuador on a recent trip to the Gallopagos.

Labeled simply 'Tricornis', which I believe is Stanhopea, this gem had black stuff growing in the agar and small black dots on the leaves. I immediately unflasked it, sprayed it with fungicide, bugicide and had a beer, then I potted it up and put it in indirect light.
Any helpful tips to keep this alive would be appreciated. My favorite and only daughter would be crushed if it died.

From what I understand, they don't like direct sun -- so definitely shade in your area -- but they do want warm to hot temps and keep it moist. I don't know if this is one of the ones that sends its flowers spikes down through the bottom of the basket or pot. You have a while before that becomes a concern in any event.
