Default Different species of phals and caring for them

Anyone know if caring for a different phalaenopsis species is the same or different versus a typical phal.. I wanted to branch off and obtain a new species ... Did some looking around and these 4 caught my eye: deliciosa; bastianii; chibae; and maculata

I found that some species were not easily cultured for me. I suspect that was the case due to lower winter temps in the greenhouse that I grew in. equestris was the easiest, I found. I am not an expert when it comes to Phals, so see what others suggest

If you can keep the humidity fairly good, give one a try

I agree with ron. Phal species are not the easiest I used to grow them on my windowsill too with reasonable results. Cornu cervi, Venosa and Philipinensis flowered. I have had trouble with bellina's, lowii and zebrina I think due to lack of humidity. I have them in the greenhouse now but in there it is also not that easy may be because i have quite a lot small plants.
My advice would be try 1 first and buy well established plants I know they are more expensive but also more rewarding. And as Ron said try to keep humidity as high as you can
Good luck and look forward to hear about the results

I have also had some problems with certain species, lately have some success with potting in clay pots and mounting, I also keep the humidity
around 55%. Most of my phals. are miniature or compact growers but this growing regiment(if thats the right word) seems to work with other orchid species as well, good luck. Hank......
