I have had it sitting on my potting bench and as I work with the orchids I get to enjoy it's intoxicatingly sweet scent. It often is the first thing you notice when you walk out back. In fact as a group, I find the few Encyclia (hybrids included) I have all have scents that carry and are very pleasant.
Guess ill look into encyclias! Nice!

I'm so happy to read your post. I've never smelled one but just had one shipped to my daughter. She got it today and is in love with the fragrance. She described it as magnolia like with that lemony scent.

Jennifer, I haven't seen it in a miniature form, but it's not a huge orchid at all, and it's got to be one of the easiest ones to grow and flower. I love mine!

I started looking for orchids with fragrance over a year ago, and have hunted as many down as I could - my Sedirea japonica rebloomed this year with a fantastic fragrance, and I have an Encyclia pentotis next to my chair, and it, too, has a wonderful scent, I have a C. Pacavia in bloom that's been smelling heavenly and a couple of other Catt/Encyclia hybrids that smell good too. But the real bonanza will be when my 2 Phal. violaceas, 2 bellinas, a lueddemaniana, and one more species phal that's spiking right now. The bellinas and violaceas smell so beautiful, smelling them in the Orchid Conservatory here for the first time made me go out and get as many as I could that were ready to bloom. That was last year. This year, there are more and bigger spikes on all of them, so I'm hoping for a good show from them.

I love the phal violaceas and bellinas but my area to grow I is shrinking and I don't have much space but I wanted a Bellina , then I was told they are Super Slow growers so it made me not want one as much. I'm very curious as to its scent now though!!

They really don't take up much space and if you buy ine in spike you won't have to wait for it to grow. Check around - it's out there somewhere.
