AND... both of the vents are open and free of obstruction? Air can move into and out of the orchidarium freely?

    cheers,

You can see the air flow is strong enough that the top of my phal flower spike wiggles slightly in the breeze so I know it's working

Well I went very low tech and over a year later I am still figuring things out I like that the lights are separate. You can mist without worry of getting the lights wet.

I wonder if I need different lights or something. It gets in the high 80s running them, and the humidity lowers. I turn the lights off with fan running and humidity increases and goes down to low 80s

Wow... well, you've definitely got your work cut out for you in figuring this one out! I'm sure with everyone's input, you'll do just fine once you get the hang of it. I think you told me when we were pm'ing that this is a new model that the company has just released? If that's the case, they may not have worked all the kinks out of the system yet. It would help them, as well as you, to contact them and let them know what's going on. Other people might be experiencing this same situation, and if there's any type of problem with the new unit's construction (like, say, too much light for the space or lights that are too hot for the space), then the company should be made aware of it. I'm just assuming it came with the lights... not sure if you bought the lights yourself... if you bought your own lights, there's a possibility you may have gone too bright/hot... is there a way you can put some more distance between the lights and the growing area? Can you stick a little prop in between the lights and the grow area to back the lights up by a few inches? Even a few inches will make a big difference. Obviously that's not what you want to be doing permanently, but for now it may help until you can get some insight from the company....

On the "bright" side... your Dendrobium seedlings are adorable! They look very healthy and should do quite well for you. They're not fussy, so they should do fine in the orchidarium, even with the rising temps. And it appears you've mounted your leptotes bicolor on your wood doggy's rear end? I love it! He's got a fuzzy bum!! Too cute!!!
