hey trevor, they've gotten bigger now, almost feet, one was showing a spike but did not continue. i was so upset. i bought 4 more when the show was about to end but they're smaller. they should be blooming now. im not sure if it likes cool night temperature for it to bloom. do you have one, im not sure if it needs special care.

Kenneth, Yes I also purchased 1 from last year's orchid show.. but I have not seen any significant growth except for few leaves.. Last month I bought another, but this time I was cautious and chose those that looked healthy (at least for me).

By the way, are your renantheras mounted or in pots? if they are in pots, what ,medium did you use?
Mine came in pots, but I mounted them for fear that their roots will rot because of they dont dry in between waterings..

Hey Trevor, I put them in big clay pots and did not hang it. i placed fern stakes for support. and some coco dust placed in old socks to retain moisture. sadly, snails are feasting on the roots. i hope it flowers next year. where do you live? i hope to see your orchids

I hail from Pampanga.. You have a huge collection of vandaceous species compared to mine. I have problem with yearly flooding in our area.. The 2011 flood was the worst as it drowned half of my vanda collection!! Such an unexpected flood, because we were used to a level of about 5 feet.. The 2011 flood reached up to 9-10 feet. I usually mount my orchids higher than the usual level of the water can reach when its flooding.. The vandas that were mounted on our "makopa" and "duhat" trees just did not survive.

sorry to hear that. floods are just scary and inevitable. maybe you could grow them in baskets so you can easily pick them up take it to a safer place..
