Default Won this monster Orchid at the HOS meeting tonight in the silent auction.

It is listed as cross C. Chocolate Drop X C. Porcia "Cannizaro". Anyone have any pictures of what the flower will look like. I've not had any luck with my internet searches.

Great prize. Won't be long before you see it with the sheaths on it.

    I'm anxious to see it.

Chocolate Drop is a dark red, and Portia is a dark lavender.

There are four sheaths right now. I have notice that each old PB appears to have spiked so hopefully this tradition will continue in my case!

The cross (C. Porcia x Lc. Chocolate Drop) was registered as Rose Drop in 1993 in AU. You can find pictures of it easily if you Google it as "lc. rose drop".

That's one HUGE plant! Based on the info Julie provided, looks like they should be some very nice flowers.

As a parent, Chocolate Drop's flower shape almost always dominants, and the offspring generally also inherit the trait of flowers with heavy substance.

    You're welcome, Miller.

From what I've seen of the pictures, Chocolate Drop won the battle of shape, and Porcia won the battle of color, but not by much. When it gets going, it should be make quite a specimen plant, and be able to produce literally hundreds of flowers. One of the reasons Porcia 'Cannizaro' got an FCC/AOS was its prodigious floriferousness.
