I'm not in Houston...but across the Gulf of Mexico from you in Florida and my vanda's go in once it's going under 65-70 F. at night. The others usually can handle a little more cold...but not the fussy vandas. Some of the coerulea will go slightly lower, but as a group they do not like the cold at all. One of our members from Texas should be along soon...

Interesting! I am a bad Vanda daddy! Last year I brought them in when the temps got into the forties and everything that was blooming size bloomed fine the spring/summer. I have not brought them in yet and we've had temps in the low 50's at night but high seventies in the day. Maybe I'll start bringing them in now that you've scared me! :-)

I'm in Dallas. I have not brought in my plants yet...we've had a couple of nights with lows in the upper 40's, but just for a few hours. I'll bring them in as soon as the low will be below 45, or we expcet mopre than a couple of hours below 50....whichever comes first. They all seem quite happy outside still (note: these are mostly catts, oncids and dends...the slippers and phals stayed inside).

Of course I am about 10 hours north of Houston, but it isn't cold enough here to bring in the orchids yet. I did bring in a cattleya I had out, but the cymbidiums will be out until first frost.

    cheers,
    BD
