    Wink New guy presentation

    Hi All!

Im Mikael and from Sweden. I have grown orchids for +20 years. My speciality is Dracula, Lepanthes and Madevallia. I grow everything in a greenhouse of 20 sq. meters. I have also built many vivariums/wardian cases.
Hope you can stand some problem with the language in the future

Here is two of my more resent bloomers.

    Lepanthes saltatrix

    Dendrobium lanyaiae

    Best regards /mikael

    Your English is almost perfect!

Wow!!!! I love your first picture. Its beautiful!
I am new to Orchids and am currently growing some in my vivarium. I hope they survive. But I am already addicted to them. What a great healthy hobby.

Glad to meet you, and Happy New Year.

Is it mostly night time now in Sweden? Excuse my ignorance please

    Hi!

Yeah..by the time i write this its almost 1 at night here. And the winter is holding Sweden in a firm icy grip.
This hobby is the greatest I think. What other could you continue doing for the rest of your life and still learn everyday?!

If you have any questions about vivariums..dont hesitate!

Here are one of my "cold cases"...

Happy new year to you all

    Mikael,

I'm rather new to the 'Orchidelirium Group', and have never before seen pictures like the ones you have posted. The plants are not only gorgeous, but your photography skills makes me very envious.

I hope you also have a Happy New Year, and please post more photos so that we all can drool over them!

Thanks for all your kind replies.

In the cold vivarium on the first picture a grow mostly Masdevallia, Dracula and other Pleurothallids. Also Cochlioda vulcanica, Cochlioda rosea, Maxillaria fulgens, Telipogon nervosus, Epidendrum sophronitioides. The vivarium has integrated cooling system and a climate computer. The lighting system consists of a 150 W metalhalide fiberoptic system that doesn't emit any heat to the cabinet (that is the small dots of light in the top).

Here comes some more photos of other vivarium of mine.

Nano vivarium with warm growing Pleurothallids. The cylinder is made of terracotta clay and filled with water. The water wets the cylinder continiusly and the plants grow directly on it. Lighted with halogen spots. At this picture the set has been running for 4 months.
Another warm vivarium. Size 20 x 20 x 40 inch. Different tropic plants and orchids.
Interior wiew of a larger warm vivarium. In front a Elaphoglossum fern.
